We strongly support the view that areas with a strong Neighbourhood Watch scheme in place will be better off than those without one and that residents who join the scheme will be better off than those that don’t.

On Monday 2nd November, the Council heard an interesting and impassioned presentation from Peter New, the Police Volunteer and Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator.
Peter drew the Council’s attention to the need for proactive community involvement to prevent crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
The Council supported the proposition that community power working with the Police and other crime reduction agencies is one of the most powerful tools in the prevention and detection of crimes in our area.
We are aware that some SWAN residents already have connections to the Neighbourhood Watch scheme but the more people that join and take an active role, the more it will help to bring crime figures down and make SWAN a better place to live
If anyone would like to know more about the scheme please call the Council (01233) 528933 or email clerk@swancc.org.uk in the first instance and we will pass your details on to Peter.
